Welcome to our new website!
The mandate of Student Caucus (“SC”) is to represent student views at the faculty and administrative level in order to improve overall academic life.
To help you better understand our mandate, here is a sample of the work we do:- Represent student interests in LLB to JD debate
- Identify and act on equality issues
- Communicate 1L concerns with curriculum change
- Review admission process and applications
- Assist in faculty recruitment
- Assist in determining the disposition of prizes and scholarships
- Review changes to academic policy
Who are members of Student Caucus?
SC is composed of an executive and representatives for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year students. Each spring Osgoode students elect their 2nd and 3rd year representatives, and those representatives in turn vote amongst themselves to determine the SC Executive. The 1st year representatives are elected by their section in the fall term.

What is expected from Student Caucus representatives?
Time commitments vary depending on how active a student representative wants to be, however it is expected that students attend regular Faculty Council ("FC") and SC meetings. To ensure that we actively push for improving academic life, SC members sit on FC, various Faculty Committees, and form SC sub-committees on particular issues of importance. Further, SC members take on individual projects with the support of SC.What is Faculty Council?
Faculty Council is the over-arching body of administrative governance at Osgoode. It is composed of the entire faculty and members of SC, and meets once a month during the academic year. At Faculty Council, the Dean provides an update report, and matters from Faculty Committees are referred for feedback and approval.
As Chair of Student Caucus, I am looking forward to an exciting year and welcome your input, queries and simple greetings throughout the year. I gladly welcome your views on how to make SC more accessible, open and informative. Some of my initiatives for this year include the establishment of a physical space for SC where we can keep you updated you ongoing programs; getting your feedback for the new Dean search committee and working on an audio recording policy that is more in tune with your needs. I hope that we can be a fountain of wealth and knowledge to each other and I look forward to meeting each and every one of you. One Love!
