Ozlympics: The Class of 2011 Orientation is now in the books and Section D has once again emerged as the winners of the most spirited section, led by Jason Mehar, most spirited leader. Section D retains the title, coming back strong in the second half of Orientation, thanks in huge part to the help of Section E: The Exchange students, who were the first group to do their own dance routine. Other highlights included Section C, led by Most Spirited First Year, Tim Hudek retaining their grip on the title of Best Dance at the Formal for the third consecutive year, dancing to a medley of C is for Cookie (Lollipop Remix), Lollipop, Pop, Lock & Drop It, Crank Dat & Conga. Section C also donated the most canned goods! Further, Section D came away with the winning team in the Amazing Torch Race! Section B was the main story of Sports Day, dominating both the obstacle races and the softball game as Rebecca Procter slid home to score the winning run in the championship game. After a controversial tie between Sections C & D, the teams were able to put their differences aside and play together in a hard-fought game against Section B. Section A won the boat races at the Madison and also had both the craziest fan at the Blue Jays game (David Zhang) and the best dressed individual at the Gold, Silver & Bronze pub (Jasdeep Singh Bal). The Ozlympics featured a very stylish soccer jersey for all first years and leaders! Thanks to Fasken Martineau, BLG, Bennett Jones & Heenan Blaikie, along with Pro Bono Students Canada for their sponsorship of these draw-dropping threads! Special thanks to McCarthy Tétrault who continued its tradition of being our platinum sponsor by sponsoring the Closing Ceremonies Formal! The Ozlympics could not have been done without the help of faculty, especially Dean Monahan, Asst. Dean Gina Alexandris and Asst. Dean (First Year) Sonia Lawrence; staff, especially Jonathan Cevallos, Mary Barbieri and Filomena; and all the wonderful leaders, committee members, sponsors and of course, the Class of 2011! Now that the Class of 2011 is officially a part of Osgoode, we can all come together and show our school pride as we do battle against Schulich on September 26th in the Soccer Kick-Off!!!
